GREETINGS FOR CHRISTMAS 1994 and the NEW YEAR 1995!
In celebration of the land of my ancestors, I’m sending you this shamrock design, taken from an etching I made a few years ago. In the continuing drama of horrors on the world scene, Ireland presents us with a ray of hope and a reason to believe the age old conflict in that fair land may at last be settled peaceably. Praise God! Again I must apologize for the lateness of this greeting. No very good excuses either, except that I (who was never a speed demon) have slowed down a bit. Nothing that can't be traced back to the date of my birth, according to the medics. To bring you up to date on the saga of the Harris/McCain Clans, and especially the River Falls contingent: Last year while I spent most of Nov & Dec. in surgery and recovery, Bruce reluctantly moved into a local nursing facility where his physical needs could be met. Then Dec. 15th he moved into an assisted living apartment and was seemingly happily situated. But… guess what!- - - -In the nursing home he had met (the first day) a caregiver named Darlene and yes, a romance!!!...and yes, a simple but unique wedding on May 20th much to the happy amazement of all their families and friends. So now welcome Darlene Christensen Harris and her 13 year old son, Jeremy, to the family roster.
Relatives and friends from east and west coasts and many spots in between, added their presence to make this the most memorable event of 1994. Thank you all for coming.
Bruce’s health has stabilized at this point, and he has physical therapy twice a week. He also has a built in caregiver who enjoys the job. Cheers for Darlene! Add to your congratulations a word of encouragement to Bruce who is rapidly learning what is “cool” to a 13 year-old male child!

We will celebrate christmas in River Falls this year. Merry, whose four children are scattered to the four winds, will come here. That’s a first, and hopefully at least three of her kids will be here part of the holiday season.
