1989 Will & Betty Harris Family Christmas Letter

December, 1989

Dear friends and family:

Greetings of the season from wonderful Wisconsin.  White it isn’t (not now) but cold it is, and all the usual signs point to the advent of Christmas time.  Your cards and notes are coming daily.  I do so love receiving them and enjoy all the good memories they evoke.

Bruce and I will spend Christmas with Doug’s household in California, then travel to Oregon for New Year’s with Merry and her family.  I wish my grandchildren were not far away.  They grow up too much between visits.  Happily Erik made it to the McCain Thanksgiving in Oshkosh.

My various church and community activities keep me from going to seed, although beginning January 1st I will no longer be an elected officer of anything.  I’m taking a sabbatical!

Have spent time, energy and $$$ in the past several months on some home improvements converting the screened porch to a four-seasons room, and now my looms have a home of their own.  I can restore my living and dining rooms to their original purposes.  Come, visit me, and you will no longer feel pre-empted by weaving equipment.  Oak Studio now is a place as well as an idea.

Can you keep track of the political changes in Europe?  This could be a very challenging time to be a teacher of current events.  Today’s paper is already out of date by the time it’s delivered.

My wishes for your good health and happiness are timeless, however, as are my prayers for the blessings of peace in your hearts and everywhere.

                              Merry Christmas-- Happy New Year

                                                      Betty
