Mrs. Elizabeth Harris 2001~2002 533 Linden St River Falls, WI 54022
Dear Family and Friends: Wishing you a very belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Sorry to be so late but I hope your holidays have been all that you wished for and look forward to a good year ahead..
The unfortunate news, both national and international, have been somewhat balanced in my book of the year 2001, by the arrival in Oregon of Mark Jonathan (Shawna and Jon) in April, and Ashley Corrine (Kevin and Shannon) in October. This brings my “great grands” now up to six. I’ve had visits from most of them this year and learned a lot about modern child rearing. (Did you know that you can teach sign language to a nine month old?!!). But please also notice that my 88 year old high chair still serves the purpose very well! Other family news: Raina and fellow Coastguardsman, Matt Clark, were married last year at Christmas time. I had a too short visit with them. They are now stationed in the Bay area in California. My other west coast families. My other west coast families, Merry and Doug, are busy with many activities. Hope to have a visit with them both next summer. Bruce and Darlene live near and we get together often for meals, shopping trips, etc. Bruce is working in a sheltered workshop three days a week and enjoys it as it gives him some other social contacts, and a little something to put in his wallet. Jeremy is now a freshman at UW-RF and is “eating it up”. He is living in a dorm on campus. I still drive my car and enjoy the independence it gives me, attend church and several community events as I wish and go to the gym for exercise three times a week.
I lost my youngest brother, Leland, (Peanut, to many of you who knew him) after a long brave struggle. Bob came from Oregon and we were able to have a good visit with him and Lynette before he passed away. Lynette has moved to the eastern part of Wisconsin to be near her daughters. We talk occasionally by phone. My apologies for being so late with this greeting. I really have no good excuse. I do so enjoy all your cards and letters and I wish you the best in 2002. Much love and God’s blessing. Betty PS (Even my Christmas Amaryllis is late this year. So far only one flower!)
