314 N. Fremont St.  River Falls, Wis. Dec. 18, 1957   Dear Ones All,           This summer was highlighted by a trip to the east. We were on the road from July 24th to August 20th. In that time we were in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Ontario, and Michigan. The trip totaled 4,0001 miles. In the last two summers we have used Gabriel 83 days and traveled 9,329 miles. Every step of the way is recorded in, “The Log of the Gabriel”, as yet unpublished.

Fremont St.                            River Falls, Wis.           The fifth annual edition goes winging its way!       Our important bit of news is that at long last this summer the thesis was completed, the oral examination taken, and the PhD conferred. Madison may not see us again as students until the children enroll in the summer session.

December 29, 1952 311  N.  Dallas River Falls, Wis. Dear Ones All: This is the time of year when we try to bring everyone up to date with our doings.  In July the Harris family reunion in Wheaton, Ill. brought that branch of the family together for the first time in many years.  For many of you most of this will be news.

Dear Betty: We were pleased to receive your letter of July 24th, and to know that your mother continues to improve. Mary's health improves somewhat but not so rapidly as we would like. I suppose it will take some time to rid her system of the poison from the diseased teeth.  I finally took time to make you a copy of the history I have of the McCain ancestry if Ireland and subsequently. You will notice that no dates are shown prior to their coming to America in 1793.
